With age creeping up on me, I recall my wife, Marti suggesting I give up 5-a-side football, but not sure I was ready to listen, there was still a chance Alex Fergusson might give me a call.Then in 2014 I suffered an injury while playing football resulting in significant disc prolapse in L5S1 and L2/l3 and pain that was out of this world.
At a visit to a physiotherapist I saw a card for Moores Pilates, a quick phone call and I was booked in to meet Sam. I was barely able to walk 10 yards, unable to sit, stand, bend or twist. I was petrified that this would be my life. Sam quickly showed me exercises to help me get stronger, checked in with my physiotherapists and mapped out a carefully managed recovery plan. Of course, there were times where I didn’t listen to Sam or my wife 😊 and did gardening or lift heavy items which would take me back several months.
Each time Sam was rebuild my confidence and encourage me to have patience, slow things down, give sound advice and bring in other experts like Jo when needed like Jo to ensure my recovery was never compromised. I quickly moved from 1:1s to mat, and then machine work, getting stronger, knowing which correct muscles to use and the importance of alignment or as Sam says “Sit Up Manesh”
endingnew start is down to Sam and great thing is I’m pain free and enjoy walking, swimming and Love Pilates!
